Among the most eco-friendly materials available, wood composite production involves very little waste, with up to 95% of every tree utilized. Made from the wood of rapid-growth trees, Woodlore® shutters enable tree replenishment at an extremely accelerated rate. Completely biodegradable, wood has much less of an environmental impact than other building materials.

Unmatched Durability

All Woodlore® Shutters are made with a solid composite wood core. They can withstand temperatures up to 140°F and won’t sag when exposed to window heat unlike hollow vinyl products. They resist cupping and warping to ensure tight closure with smooth operation.

Woodlore®’s UV inhibitors protect against color fading and yellowing. And its patented polypropylene coating resists staining to ensure long-term performance in a variety of environments.

Shutter of the Future

Woodlore® Plus is a wood composite hybrid shutter utilizing lightweight yet durable ABS for its louvers, a material often used in high-end endurance applications such as appliances, car parts and helmets, while utilizing structured wood composite frames and rails. It is VOC safe and CARB compliant for off-gassing.

Woodlore® Plus is tougher, has more colors and is more versatile than ever before.

Ingenuity at Its Best

To maximize structural strength and rigidity of louvers while reducing weight, we looked to aeronautics in the development of Woodlore® Plus louvers. After hours of calculations through computer modeling, we developed an optimal structural design where each louver is reinforced by an intricate but hidden structural support system inspired by the design of wing spars of aircraft. The exclusive construction creates a louver that is substantially stronger and more rigid. Each louver then undergoes multiple sanding and painting sequences for an impeccable finish suitable for virtually all interiors.

Beautiful & Waterproof

For high moisture areas of the home, the special waterproof option enhances resistance to moisture, shrinking, and warping. The durable ABS co-polymer means a tough and waterproof surface that won’t chip, scratch, or dent. Not to mention, stainless steel hinges included in the waterproof option are guaranteed never to rust or corrode.

Traditionally used in demanding furniture and building construction, the mortise & tenon joints featured in Normandy® are designed to withstand decades of shear and racking stress to ensure the prolonged quality of a shutter. The joint is crafted out of a mortise cut through the wood and a hearty tenon, which fits snugly into the mortise. The precision crafting creates a tight lock, without the need for extra screws or fasteners.

The patented wood drying techniques, Prescription Wood Conditioning®, are designed to reduce shrinking and swelling of each Normandy® shutter. Our wood conditioning specialists determine the humidity conditions of each customer’s home location. The wood is dried to conditions emulating those of the final location. Drying to the proper environmental conditions ensures that shutters will close tightly, without gaps, and the result is a more solid and beautiful shutter for years to come.

Luxurious & Resilient

The secret to a handsome and durable shutter finish really isn’t a secret at all. It takes multiple sequences of sanding with progressively finer sandpaper to open the pores of the wood for coating and smoothing the surfaces. Each layer is finely coated with high-quality stain or paint. This labor-intensive process is the only way to achieve the translucent, deep finish of a Normandy® Shutter.

OSMO Stain Finish

OSMO is a safe and eco-friendly finish made from natural plant oils and vegetable waxes, free from common paints and stains’ harmful substances. In a palette of on-trend colors, OSMO amplifies wood’s natural grain for intensely character-rich louvers.
